Welcome baby Josie!

I love newborn photography. It takes a bit longer than normal sessions, but what can you expect from someone who needs to eat and sleep every 2 hours?

If you have a babe on the way, here are some things to remember when scheduling your session:

1.It's best to schedule baby's session when she is 1-3 weeks old. She will still have all her cute newborn features and any swelling will be gone.

2. Don't worry if baby has jaundice, acne or any other skin discoloration. I use software to edit the skin to be smooth and even. If you use a different photographer, make sure they do this!

3. Set aside at least 2 hours for the session. Newborns need time to eat and cuddle. I do not set a time limit on these sessions (or any session, actually), we shoot until we have all the images we want. 2 hours is average.

Now it's time to see baby Josie!
She is SO tiny and precious, see for yourself:

Andrea and Bernardo

Here are a few more from the session I did with Andrea and Bernardo.

This is one of the longest sessions I have ever done! We covered 4 different locations and took 2 days to get all the shots.

It was well worth it. They have such a variety of images, I can't wait to give them their CD tomorrow!

Ever Heard of Belly Painting?

I hadn't! What is it you are wondering?

If you are pregnant and want to do something fun and memorable with your baby-belly, you can hire Michelle from Unforgettable Evenings to use your belly as a canvas. Michelle also does face painting for parties and events. You may have seen her at Wingers or Applebees during family night!

Belly painting makes for an interesting addition to your classic maternity shoot! Ask me for more details if you are interested in adding this to your maternity session.

Hilary and Quintin

How cute are they!?
For this session, the bride really wanted some photos in a wheat field. The only problem was, there are no wheat fields this time of year. So I got a little creative and viola!
They were so fun to work with. I loved it! It's so easy to take photos of people when they are in love.

They're Cold Too

A small side project.

I noticed the trees on campus started wearing sweaters.

It started with one tree, and soon enough I was able to find 7 different ones!

I hope whoever is responsible for the sweaters will find this video. I want them to be able to have something to remember their charitable work.

BYUI Spirit Team

Who wouldn't want to photograph a bunch of cheerleaders?

They know how to pose, they have great smiles, they pretty much make themselves look good with very little help from the photographer.

This session was super fast paced. This team has about 50 members. We have to get single portraits and a team photo done in an hour and a half. I could spend a whole hour photographing one person, never mind 50!

Capturing their best shot in 30 seconds wasn't too bad, it was a great learning experience. My only regret is the light. I wish we had used more natural light and less tungsten. But when you have over 50 people you need to get together, night time is usually the only time.

Here are a few of my favorites

Weeks 3 & 4

So for these weeks I wanted to try something different. I think I was able to step out of my comfort zone and still capture something interesting.

I found an old jeep-looking vehicle parked in a lot near my house.
I had a lot of fun taking pictures of that lonely thing.
Here is a favorite:

This next photo was taken while I was waiting for my car to warm up.
It came out so cool! I have lines and everything!
I used my brothers trendy glasses for this shot:

Week 3- Cupcakes!

When I had to bring a dessert to an opening social, I decided to try a lemon cupcake recipe I found. I went all out and decorated them with homemade frosting and fresh raspberries.

As I was loading them into my car, I realized how pretty they looked. These cupcakes were the first food item I have ever made pretty!

So the cupcakes had a photo shoot in the front seat of my car.

I love cupcakes!

Project 52

I have decided to participate in Project 52. I love the idea of project 365, but I know I can't commit to carry my camera with me every day. I have a busy schedule! Hence project 52.

Some of you may be wondering what the heck project 52 even is.

P52 is when you take a picture a week. I love this idea because it helps the photographer, no matter what skill level, to improve their photography! Project 365, where you take a photo every day would probably help you to improve faster, but I'm not in a rush.

So here we begin!

Below are the first 2 weeks of the year.

Week 1- Newborn. What better way to start the new year than with a newborn? New life, new beginnings, new possibilities.

Week 2- Yarn. This is the yarn I bought in hopes of knitting some earmuff/headbands. I think by the time I am done it will be August.
